DREAMS+TEAMS

Dreams+Teams is about developing young leaders and global citizen through sports and cross cultural. As a new young leader they will be joining young people in more than forty countries that are currently involved in dreams n teams. Taking part in dreams n teams creates an opportunity for you to be constantly challenged in your assumption, beliefs and behaviour relating to sports and arts leadership and cross cultural awareness. Dreams+Teams will help you to think about other cultures and other ways of doing things and particularly how you might include people who are different from you. The UK sponsors of Dreams+Teams are the youth sports trust and the british council, working in partnership. Dreams+Teams shares the philosophy and principals adopted by these two organisations. These include a commitment to diversty, equality and inclusion. Outside the UK, Dreams n teams is run in partnership between the british council and local partner organisations. Dreams+Teams uses the global language and diversity of sports and the arts to help you in developing your leadershgp skills, active citizenship and international awareness and links. Through Dreams+Teams you can joy other young leaders around the world. You will learn how to lead sport and art activity for other young people and have fun along the way You will also be encouraged to look at your own and other cultures to raise your cross cultural awareness. You will be challenged to make a difference by 'thinking globally and acting locally'. To help you do this, you will be encouraged to publish your own Dreams+Teams club and to gain awards through the global citizen awards scheme. Dreams+Teams is different from other sport leadership programmes because of its international linking and cross cultural dimensions. Sport and the art provide a platform for young people in different countries to explore together issues relating to fair play, equity, mutality, cultural diversity, inclusion religion, ethics, global communications and many others. By establishing international links, you will join other young leaders in each participating country and form a global team, working towards perotlic celebration events, perhaps a global sport and arts festival to be held every year. In the UK, sports colleges and their partner schools will be supported to develop global citizenship programmes to form a hub of international links. The aim is to build sustainable international links between these schools and their partner Dreams+Teams country With other young leaders you will set up your own Dreams+Teams club, which will give you a chance to use and further develop the skills you gain on the young leader coursed. The clubs will be owned, and run by young leaders, enabling you to impact on your schools and communities and to engage with many more young peoples.
